While we do not recommend doing this procedure, which should probably be done by a doctor (especially if you’re pregnant), it’s important to note that the woman in the video had let her piercing close for years when it became infected. Basically, you need to be very careful with taking care of belly piercings, even if you take out the ring and allow it to close up. You should always clean the site of the piercing, whether you have jewelry in there or not. It takes on average 6-12 months for a fresh piercing to heal, and this time frame is when the belly button is most prone to infections. That doesn’t mean, however, that you can’t get an infection well after that 12-month mark. Just watch and listen to the woman in the video as proof of that fact. Tips for Cleaning a Belly Piercing. Always make sure your hands are thoroughly washed when cleaning a piercing. Do not use ointments like Bacitracin. Do perform salt soaks once every week or more if the area is prone to infection and irritation: Use 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt or table salt dissolved in 8 oz of warm water in a shot glass or small glass and hold over the belly button while lying on... Clean the piercing and surrounding skin twice a day, daily, with anti-bacterial soap or mild antiseptic products such as benzalkonium chloride. Rotate the jewelry while the area is wet while you’re cleaning it. Remove any dried matter in the area. If the area is seriously infected and swollen with pus, it’s best to let a physician take matters into his/her hands. Do not do what this woman does in the video at home–please. Last week, I decided Fallon was a gift to this island, a feminist warrior sent to end the reign of Chris. But as we settle into the nice comfortable groove of the fourth episode, relationships are beginning to form and people, including Fallon, are beginning to reveal themselves. Take, for example Baby Mason and Kerri. Mason is 21, but so wise for his age, and Kerri is falling hard. Over the past week (day. four hours. ), they’ve evolved into an old married couple, and the episode opens with them playing chess, clothed, sipping a nice Chablis. Kerri even makes a semi-convincing speech to Chris, telling him that she won’t be a Sister Wife anymore. Chris seems relieved. His relationship with Fallon is progressing nicely as well, he says. He’s gone from having uncontrollable butterflies to uncontrollable boners. He and Fallon affirm their great love by having some freaky shower sex while the audience is treated to steamy silhouettes like we’re watching an episode of Red Shoe Diaries (I wish). But even in his love-fog, Chris knows there is something diabolical about Fallon — something a little bit menacing, a bit dangerous. I never thought I'd say this, but I agree with you, Chris. Fallon is terrifying. She’s every teen-movie villain, every evil Disney queen, and every terrifying Barry’s Bootcamp instructor rolled into one. I am probably putting my own life at risk even by writing this recap. Chris and Johanna:. Johanna — despite having a hot-pink belly-button ring like it's 1998 and she’s in a Limp Bizkit video — is great. She loves to cook, she likes her body, she likes Chris’s body, and she’s from Miami. Chris sees her and says, “Spicy. ” by way of approval. Their connection is immediate, and as deep as if they'd met with clothes on. After a really long discussion about their families, fishing, seafood, boats, their relationships with their dads, they play a round of beach bocce ball, expressly so... He whispers “Help me. Save me. Save yourself,” his eyes darting all around in case Fallon is somehow hiding in the bushes. He hasn’t been able to disable the tracking device Fallon planted on him, but he plans on making a run for it as soon as he can. Source: nymag.com
In the many years I have interviewed people for a living I have never had a story subject pull up her shirt and flash her midriff at me. But was I surprised when Kelli Poles did it during our conversation, in the middle of an Overland Park coffee... Not really: Poles bared more than that on national TV. Last year the former college basketball player applied to be on ABC’s “Extreme Weight Loss” show — and she made it. ABC condensed her six-month journey into a two-hour episode that aired last... At the end, viewers saw that the 28-year-old native of western New York, who now lives in Overland Park, had lost 123 pounds. Let that soak in for a second. She off-loaded the weight of another adult from her body. “I was always overweight, but I was strong. So I was able to turn being overweight into something powerful,” said Poles, who stands 5 feet 11 inches tall and ended the show at 208 pounds. The weight started piling on, though, when she missed the preseason of her freshman year of playing basketball at the University of Vermont because of a knee injury. After college she moved to Kansas to be close to family, and her weight kept creeping up. “I was sick of having so many regrets, and I knew if I didn’t become the best version of myself, I was going to spend the next 20 years … not being active,... “I saw myself kind of curling up in this little ball. I kind of lost who I was. Being picked for the show gave her free access to Chris and Heidi Powell, the husband-and-wife personal trainers who shepherd “Extreme Weight Loss” participants on the road to better health. For three months last year Poles and the other contestants lived and trained together at “boot camp” at the Anschutz Health and Wellness Center in the Denver area. Then they had to come home and maintain their healthy bodies on their own. As someone who struggles with weight, too, I couldn’t wait to find out how the show works. So, too, did one guy in the coffee shop who recognized Poles from TV and took a seat at the table next to us so he could eavesdrop. How she got on the show Poles tried out for ABC’s “The Biggest Loser” two years ago but didn’t make that cut. The network obviously kept its eye on her because producers called and encouraged her to try out for “Extreme Weight Loss. She went to a February 2014 casting call for the show in.
